Embedded firmware engineer

YOU are an 8bit Microchip guru. You traverse C and assembly with ease and you also know what it takes to safely wield a soldering iron.

You can squeeze every last electron out of a 3 volt lithium battery and know that Manchester is more than just a city in England.

While coding is your world, you would like to break from the 1’s and 0’s and embrace true “product” Engineering.

Specs:

  • Embedded firmware engineer with 2-3 years’ experience
  • Proficient with Microchip 8 bit processors, either in Assembly or C languages
  • Familiar with narrow band RF protocols like OOSK, Manchester
  • Experience with battery operated devices and the true definition of low power mode
  • Dynamic, energetic personality that gets along with all types
  • Ability to simply figure it out and get stuff done

Product QA Tech

The Quality Assurance Technician develops, modifies and executes both hardware and software test plans to ensure Ecolink products meet our high quality and performance standards.   At each stage of the development the QA Technician will play a role to ensure the product meets the milestones required to proceed to the next stage in development and/or to final product release. Additional duties will include managing the regulatory approval submission process as well as developing test tools/jigs to increase work flow efficiency.

Essential Functions

  • Light assembly and debug of hardware prototypes
  • Develops and executes test plans for assigned products in accordance to regulatory agency and/or Product Engineer guidelines.
  • Ensures that product performs to specifications.
  • Logs defects into issues database and tracks them through closure.
  • Reports test results and maintains schedules for assigned features and functionality.
  • Supports Contract Manufacture for production release, test procedure and defect resolution
  • Performs pre-test and completes submission packages for FCC/IC and UL product certification.

Education and Experience

  • College level technical education in Electronics or Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 2-3 years experiences test and debugging sub-Gig wireless, battery power sensors and devices
  • Familiar with Microchip or other 8 bit embedded microcontroller based designs
  • Familiar with Z-wave and/or Zigbee wireless protocol
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows products.
  • Familiarity with testing methodologies and the defect reporting process.
  • Demonstrates the ability to analyze a problem and complete detailed reports.
  • Able to methodically produce the steps which exhibit bugs in the product and is able to reproduce and communicate these steps.
  • Familiar with Security Alarm or Home Automation systems a plus

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Shows initiative in gaining in-depth experience in areas of technology relevant to testing of company products.
  • Works well in a team environment without constant supervision.
  • Excels at multi-tasking in an environment of continuous change.

Electrical Design Engineer

The Design Engineer will work in conjunction with Mechanical,  RF and Firmware engineers to design and develop world class wireless security and home automation sensors.

Essential Functions

  • Research, design and develop wireless, battery operated sensors and devices
  • Evaluate new technologies to determine feasibility for innovative new products
  • Schematic capture (Altium, PADS) with some PCB layout design
  • Estimates and monitors personal schedules and timelines.
  • Defines development and production test plans and procedures.
  • Ensures product meets or exceeds specifications.
  • Work with raw component vendors for best pricing, technology
  • Supports Contract Manufacturer during prototype and production runs.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 2-3 years experience designing low cost, battery powered sensors and devices
  • Solid knowledge of digital design using 8 bit microprocessors
  • Solid knowledge of circuit design techniques for wireless transmitters and receivers
  • Experience with sub-gig frequency , Z-Wave or Zigbee products
  • Familiar with Security Alarm and/or Home Automation systems a plus
